Donald Trump has hinted at the imminent launch of World Liberty Financial, a cryptocurrency initiative his family has been promoting in recent weeks. In a video posted on his X account on September 12, Trump invited his followers to join a live Twitter Spaces event on September 16, where he intends to unveil the project officially.
“We are embracing the future with crypto and leaving the slow and outdated big banks behind,” Trump declared.
The teaser has fueled growing speculation about the Trump family’s foray into crypto. In early August, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump alluded to forthcoming crypto-related ventures, suggesting significant plans to enter the market. These hints were substantiated by reports indicating that the Trump-backed initiative would likely be built on Aave, a decentralized finance platform, and Ethereum’s blockchain. The project is expected to focus on developing a “credit account system” and promoting the adoption of stablecoins.
Security has been underscored as a paramount concern for World Liberty Financial. The team behind the project is collaborating with leading security firms, including PeckShield, Zokyo, and BlockSecTeam, to ensure the platform’s integrity. An alleged official Telegram channel stated that the project’s code has undergone thorough reviews by industry experts to mitigate security risks.
The announcement’s timing coincides with a recent incident in early September, when the X accounts of Lara and Tiffany Trump were hacked, posting about a token purportedly linked to World Liberty Financial.
