Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate, has widened his lead on Polymarket over Democratic contender Kamala Harris after delivering a compelling speech alongside billionaire Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
Polymarket data shows Trump with a 50.8% chance of winning the upcoming U.S. elections, while Harris trails at 48.4%. The total betting volume on the November presidential election has reached $1.35 billion, with Trump leading at $318 million, compared to Harris’s $258 million.
During his address on October 5 in Butler, Pennsylvania, Trump once again suggested the possibility of releasing Ross Ulbricht, the founder of Silk Road, from prison. However, neither he nor Musk made any explicit references to the cryptocurrency sector.
Musk repeatedly urged the audience to vote in November, asserting that “if you don’t, this will be the last election.”
In related news, venture capitalist Ben Horowitz, who previously backed Trump, has shifted his support to Harris. He announced plans to make a “significant” donation to her campaign, citing optimism for her tech policies that could benefit industries like cryptocurrency and artificial intelligence.
The cryptocurrency market responded positively to the Trump-Musk speech, experiencing a 1.7% increase in global market cap over the past 24 hours, now standing at $2.31 trillion, according to CoinGecko.
