What to expect in the crypto markets this week?

2 min

This week, the financial markets are abuzz with anticipation for the bitcoin halving event, marking the fourth occurrence of the pre-programmed reduction in the digital currency’s creation rate, set to happen by month’s end.

The halving event, which takes place every 210,000 blocks — approximately every four years — slows down the rate of new bitcoin production and reduces the rewards for mining activities by half.

Historically, such halving events have triggered significant price surges for bitcoin. However, current analyses suggest that the influence of the spot bitcoin ETF market might now play a more substantial role in shaping Bitcoin’s supply-and-demand equation.

Despite the expected drop in bitcoin-based earnings for miners, there’s a possibility that their revenue in USD could rise, thanks to a potential uptick in bitcoin’s price alongside advancements in Ordinals and Layer 2 solutions.
